Privacy Policy
Effective October 29, 2026
This policy covers ragamez.com, including the Portal World and the games you can play on the site (together, the "site"). The site is run by RaGamez LLC, a California limited liability company ("RaGamez", "we", "us"). Our contact details are at the end of this page.
The short version
- There are no accounts. We never ask for your name, email, phone number, address, age or a photo.
- Your game progress and settings stay on your device.
- When you play online, you get a random ID and a random name like "BraveOtter42". The other players in your server or room see your character, what it's doing and your random name. That information is removed when you leave.
- With strangers, chat is only ready-made phrases. In private rooms, friends can type. Personal details are hidden automatically, and messages are deleted from our servers when the person who wrote them leaves.
- No ads, no tracking cookies and no analytics. We don't sell or share anyone's information.
- Kids are welcome. We treat everyone as though they might be under 13.
1. What we collect, and why
Browsing the site and playing offline
You don't sign up for anything. To remember your game between visits, the site saves a few things in your own browser's storage on your device:
- the character you picked
- what's in your bag and hotbar, chests you've opened and story progress (like having met Irela)
- the creatures you've tamed in the Portal World, their names (including any name you type for one) and which ones travel with you (saved as ragamez.companions). Their names never leave your device
- the treats in your pocket for taming animals (saved as ragamez.treats)
- sound on or off
- the graphics level for this device: the one you pick in the Graphics menu, if you pick one. When the world is choosing by itself ("Auto") and settles on a level, it saves that level too, together with a short scrambled code made from the name of the device's graphics chip. The code only lets the site recognise the same device again; it can't be turned back into the name, and the name itself is never saved. It also remembers whether you switched on "Show performance" in the Graphics menu (saved as ragamez.perfHud), so the small box showing how smoothly the world runs stays on next time on this device. Switching it off removes it
- your VR comfort settings, if you play in a virtual-reality headset: things like how turning works, how strong the comfort darkening at the edges is, and the picture sharpness, so they are the same the next time you put the headset on
- your random online name, the players you muted, and whether you chose to stay offline
- your age range (under 13, 13 to 16, or 17 and over), if you answer the age question before a game made for older players (saved as ragamez.ageBand). We don't save the year you enter, and it never leaves your device. It's kept so the question isn't asked again, and so a "too young" answer isn't simply retried
We can't see or read this. You can delete it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
Playing online
Online play is on when you enter the Portal World, unless you turn it off. Going online works like this:
- A random ID. Our provider, Google Firebase, gives your browser a random ID such as "qZ1RA0if…". It isn't linked to your name, email or any account, and it stays in your browser so that you are the same player next time. We use it only to run online play, as described in section 3.
- What other players see. We share with the players in your server or room, and with nobody else: our database only lets a player read a world's players while they are in that world themselves.
- your random name and the character you chose
- where your character is, which way it's facing and aiming, and how it moves: running, swimming, diving, jumping and sailing
- your emote, the item in your hands, and when you swing or fire it
- the kinds of animals with you and the one you're riding (never their names), and when your character falls into the death portal
- Hits between players. When your weapon hits another player, or theirs hits you, the hit (the hitter's random ID, how much damage, and when) goes into that player's inbox in our database. Only that player can read it, and it's deleted as soon as their game has read it, or when they leave.
- Chat.
- On public servers, players can only send ready-made phrases and emoji, such as "Want to play?". The server refuses anything else.
- In private rooms, which you can only join with a code, players can type short messages. Before a message is shown to anyone, our filter hides personal details: real names, addresses, schools, phone numbers, emails, links and usernames for other apps. No filter is perfect, so please never type personal details.
- Every chat message is deleted from our servers when the person who wrote it leaves. Otherwise the players still there tidy it away about eleven minutes after it was sent. Players who were in the room may still see it on their own screen until they close the page.
- Chat can only be read by the players in that same server or room, for as long as they're in it.
- To keep chat to one message a second, we store the time of your last message (until you send one, the time you came online), and which message it was, while you're online.
- Which server or room you're in. We store this while you're online, so that you're only ever in one at a time and so chat and reports go to the right place. Other players can't read it, and it goes when your character's record does.
- Reports. When someone presses Report on a player, we receive:
- that player's random ID and random name
- the server or room it happened in
- that player's recent chat lines, as they appeared on screen
- the random ID of the person reporting, and the time
Technical information
Like any website, the services that deliver our pages and code see your IP address and basic browser details while you use the site. These are our hosting and database provider (Google Firebase) and the networks that serve our code and fonts (jsDelivr, Google Fonts and Google's gstatic). They need this to send the site to your device and to protect it from abuse. We don't use it to identify anyone, and we don't keep our own logs of it.
Games on the site
The browser version of Wendigo Run runs entirely on your device. It has no ads and no purchases, and it keeps scores on your device. The browser game Arena also runs entirely on your device: you play against computer-controlled players, with no chat, ads or purchases, and it keeps your settings on your device. Links to our apps on Google Play take you to Google, whose own privacy policy applies there.
The waitlist
The Bruja Run waitlist on our homepage isn't switched on yet, so it doesn't collect anything. It's for ages 13 and up. Before we switch it on, we'll update this policy to say where the emails go and how to unsubscribe.
If you email us
We use what you send, including your email address, only to answer you, and we delete it once it's no longer needed.
2. What we don't do
- We don't show ads, and we don't use advertising or analytics cookies, trackers or "pixels".
- We don't sell, rent or share anyone's personal information, or use it for targeted advertising.
- We don't build profiles of players, and we don't use location (beyond what any website receives as described above), photos, video, voice or contacts.
- We don't have private messages, friend lists or voice chat.
If we ever add any of these, for example ads or purchases, we'll update this policy first. Where the law requires it, such as for children, we'll ask for permission first.
3. Children's privacy
The Portal World is for everyone, including children under 13. We designed online play to follow the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA): it collects the same small amount of information from every player, whatever their age.
- What we collect from children: only the random ID and the in-game activity described in section 1. We don't ask a child for any personal details, and a child never has to give more information than is needed to play.
- Games for older players: some of our games are made for teens or adults. Before one of them starts, we ask the year you were born. The answer only decides whether that game opens: we keep just the age range on your device, as described in section 1, and we never receive it.
- How the random ID is used: only to support the internal operation of online play:
- to keep each player in their server or room
- to show each player's character to the others
- to deliver chat, and keep it to one message a second
- to make mute and report work
- to keep the service secure
- Typed chat: we take reasonable steps to remove personal information before a message is shown, as described in section 1. We also delete messages from our records as soon as their writer leaves.
- Who else receives it: only Google Firebase, which runs our hosting, database and sign-in for us. Firebase may use the information only to provide that service. We don't disclose children's information to anyone else, unless the law requires it.
- Parents' choices: a parent or guardian can review or delete information about their child, or stop further collection, at any time:
- Stop online play: open the Online panel (the people button in the Portal World) and choose Go offline (before you've entered, Stay offline). It stays off on that device until it's turned back on.
- Delete everything on the device: clear this site's data in the browser settings. This removes the random ID, game progress and settings.
- Ask us: email us with the player's random name, if you know it, and roughly when they played. We'll find and delete any reports about them, or tell you what we hold. Because we don't know who players are, we may need those details to find the right information.
Our Parents & Safety page explains how online play works and how to keep it safe.
4. How long we keep information
| Information | Where | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Game progress and settings | Your device only | Until you clear the site's data |
| Your character's position and activity while online, and which server or room you're in | Our database | Removed when you leave, or within a few minutes if your connection drops |
| Chat messages | Our database | Deleted when their writer leaves, and otherwise about eleven minutes after they're sent |
| Anything online play leaves behind | Our database | Removed by our monthly clean-up, which deletes anything over an hour old |
| Reports | Our database | Deleted within 60 days |
| Random player ID | Your browser, and Google Firebase sign-in | On our side, deleted after 30 days without use (we go by when the ID last signed in or renewed its sign-in, which happens whenever someone plays). We run the clean-up monthly, so an unused ID is gone within 60 days. |
| Emails you send us | Our email | Until your question is resolved, then deleted |
5. Cookies and browser storage
We don't use cookies. The site uses your browser's storage only for the game and settings above, and Firebase uses it to remember your random ID. All of this is needed for the site to work, so we don't show a cookie banner.
Do Not Track: we don't track visitors across websites, so we treat every visitor the same way whether or not their browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal.
6. Security
The site is served only over secure connections (HTTPS). Server-side rules control who may read or write each piece of data: players can change only their own record (anyone may also tidy away a chat message over ten minutes old), only the players in a server or room can see who's there or read its chat, strangers can only send ready-made phrases, and nobody can read reports except us. We keep a written security plan, limit access to our systems to the people who run RaGamez, and review our safeguards regularly. No system is perfectly secure, but we collect very little, so very little could ever be exposed.
7. Your rights, wherever you live
Anyone can ask us what information we have about them, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it. Write to us at the address below. You can also go offline or clear the site's data yourself at any time.
- California residents: we don't sell or share personal information, and we don't use it for targeted advertising. You have the right not to be treated differently for asking about your information.
- Visitors from the UK, EU and similar places:
- Why we're allowed to use it: we use the information above to provide the site and online play you ask for, and because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the site working and safe.
- Where it's stored: in the United States.
- Complaints: you may complain to your local data protection authority.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new date. If a change affects what we collect from children, we'll make it in line with COPPA, including asking parents for permission where it's required, before the change takes effect.
