For families
Parents & Safety
Updated October 29, 2026
We're a family studio, and our own kids play in the Portal World. We built online play to be friendly and safe for children, and we want you to know exactly how it works.
How online play works
- No accounts, no personal details. Players never type a name, email or password. Everyone gets a random name like "BraveOtter42". Kids can re-roll it, but can't type their own.
- Public servers are small: about 32 players. With strangers, chat is only ready-made phrases and emoji, like "Want to play?" or "Race you!". The server refuses anything else, so strangers can't type to your child at all.
- Private rooms are opened with a six-letter code and shared with friends. Only people who have the code can join. Inside a room, friends can type short messages. Swearing, phone numbers, emails, addresses, schools, real names, links and usernames for other apps are hidden automatically. No filter is perfect, though, so talk with your child about sharing codes only with people they know.
- Friendly fights, with safe zones. Out in the valley, players' weapons can knock each other out. There's no blood: a knocked-out player drops through a portal to the Underworld and finds the way back. Nobody can be hurt round the plaza or in the arrival meadow, and a child who'd rather not join in can stay there, play in a private room with people they know, or play offline.
- No private messages, no friend lists, no voice chat, no photos.
- Chat doesn't stick around. Messages are deleted from our servers when the person who wrote them leaves, and in any case about eleven minutes after they're sent. Only the players in that server or room can read them.
- Mute and Report are next to every player in the Online panel. Muting hides that player's chat on your device. Reports come to us.
Community Rules
Everyone who plays online agrees to these:
- Be kind. No bullying, teasing, threats or mean words.
- Keep it private. Never share your real name, address, school, phone number, passwords or usernames for other apps. Never ask anyone for theirs.
- Keep it clean. No swearing, hate, or anything sexual or scary.
- Be yourself. Don't pretend to be someone else.
- Play fair. No cheating, hacking or bots. Knocking someone out is part of the game; following one player around to keep doing it isn't. Leave alone anyone who wants to be left alone.
- Stay in the game. Never agree to meet or talk with another player somewhere else.
- Speak up. If someone breaks these rules or makes you feel uncomfortable, Mute them, Report them and tell a grown-up you trust.
Players who break the rules can be muted, removed or blocked. For the full rules, see our Terms of Use.
Tips for kids
- If something feels wrong, you're never in trouble for telling a grown-up.
- You can always leave. Open the Online panel and pick Back to a public server or Go offline.
- Only share a private room code with friends you know in real life.
For parents: controls
- Turn online play off: in the Portal World, tap the people button at the top, then Go offline (or Stay offline before you enter). It stays off on that device until it's turned back on. The whole world still works offline.
- Erase everything: clear this site's data in your browser settings. That removes your child's random ID, progress and settings.
- Questions, or want us to delete something? Email raffogamez@gmail.com. Our Privacy Policy lists exactly what we collect, which is very little.
Content and health
- What's in the Portal World: exploring, swimming, sailing, riding, dancing and fantasy weapons. Swords and guns are used on targets, straw dummies, barrels and wild animals, and wolves and a dragon can attack you. Animals can also be tamed with treats found in the world and become companions; horses and a unicorn can be ridden, and a tamed dragon flown. Online, players can knock each other out outside the safe zones. There's no blood: an animal that falls lies down and fades away, and a player who runs out of health is carried through a portal to the Underworld and finds the way back. The Portal World is for all ages.
- Age ratings: we make games for different ages, and every game shows its rating, such as "All ages" or "13+". Wendigo Run is rated 13+ for horror themes and stylised blood (blood can be switched off in its Options). Arena is rated All ages: a cartoon shooter with blocky figures and toy-like guns, played against computer-controlled players, with no blood. Games for older players, including mature games we add later, ask the year a player was born before they start, on our game pages and at their portals in the Portal World. Only the age range is remembered, on that device, and nothing is sent to us. An age question can be answered dishonestly, so please talk with your child about which games are right for them.
- Seizure warning: the game has flashing lights and effects. If your child has epilepsy or has ever had a seizure, check with a doctor before playing. Stop at once if they feel unwell.
- Encourage breaks. We don't use streaks, daily rewards or other tricks to keep kids playing longer.
If a child is in danger
If you believe a child is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number (911 in the U.S.). To report online exploitation of a child in the U.S., contact the NCMEC CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org or 1-800-843-5678. Please also tell us at raffogamez@gmail.com, so we can help.
